I started reading Whisky Burn and right away loved it! It's fun, it's hilarious and it's engaging. There's never a dull moment with Ben, traveling with him through Scotland! I also love the design of the cover, it's amazing! Can't wait for the sequel!

Scapa

Scapa

This painting was the last of the Scottish Whisky Burn series. I painted it just after visiting Highland Park and Scapa distilleries, while waiting for the evening ferry. Not far offshore at the bottom of the Scapa Flow lie dozens of WWI warships, scuttled by the German commanders impatiently waiting for the armistice, and probably desperate for a drink.

Kintyre

Kintyre

This was the first of the Scottish Whisky Burn series.  I painted it on the beach near the campsite in the company of a group of Harley riders who were in the neighbouring tents. This was the calm before the storm. That evening the wind nearly blew us all in to the sea.

Islay

Islay

I painted this view of Loch Indaal between visiting Ardbeg and Kilchoman distilleries. The view is from the road that bypasses Bowmore and heads across the bogs. A moderate breeze kept down the midges, that would otherwise have eaten me to shreds and added themselves to the painting.

Glenlivet

Glenlivet

I painted this just before my visit to Glenlivet distillery, and almost missed my tour because of it. The purple Ballindalloch hills behind lead the way into the almost mythical region of Speyside.

Cromarty Firth

Cromarty Firth

The Cromarty Firth from the shore near Dalmore, painted after my attempted visit there. The distillery itself was closed but I met one of the production staff who provided me with some information. In the distance he pointed out the unpaintable chimneys of the Invergordon grain distillery, which I left out.
